The Best Music Festivals in the United States

  • Jango Radio Ultra Music Festival
Until the day that we all have our own portable hologram machines or augmented reality concert edition (neither of which are now a source of science fiction… Thank you Tupac & Coachella), concerts will be in high demand!   Speaking of which, the rock and pop music festival scene has experienced quite a resurgence in recent years.

Though many attendees are children, or even grandchildren, of the Woodstock generation, they are coming to these huge events for the same reasons – The EXPERIENCE! Each of these festivals is action packed with floor to ceiling amenities and special features including but definitely not limited to yoga classes, food trucks, arts and crafts tents, and spray fountains, Ferris wheels, food contests and camping excursions for the whole family!  Here is our list for the best music festivals in the United States.

Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival – June

Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival was one of the first and most popular of these new musical extravaganzas. It happens each year in early June near Manchester, Tennessee. A wide range of cool and popular bands has played there over the years representing a broad spectrum of music, from classic rock, to hip-hop, blues, and jazz, as well as everything in between.

Coachella, Coachella, CA – April

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival takes place each spring in southern California and has become the biggest festival on the west coast. It has the same diverse range of musical acts as Bonnaroo and is also known as a great spot for celebrity sightings. There are multiple stages and music tents. The grounds feature large sculptural art installations.  Although not quite as grand as Coachella, the Smokeout festival is rivaling Coachella in its set-list  Watch the Smokeout video here.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival – Late April – May

With all of the new hip festivals it might be easy to overlook one of the great all time music events, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The NO JazzFest also occurs in the late spring each year. Though jazz is featured in the title, there are many famous rock, pop, and blues artists that appear. The event happens over two long weekends. As you would expect in New Orleans, there is lots of great food. Louisiana culture and heritage is showcased in “villages” with arts and performances.

Telluride Bluegrass Festival  – Mid June

The wildcard on our list will not seize to amaze! No… This is not your typical festival and yes, the eclectic mix of patrons will make you scratch your head at times; but this is not a concert to be missed by any country or bluegrass fans.  Tucked away in a picturesque little town about 6 hours southwest of Denver, the venue is surrounded by fresh air, flowing waterfalls and rocky mountain bliss! Showers are optional at this hippie laden event, which actually brings a sense of camaraderie to the fellow festival goers…. Sort of like a Band of Hippie Brothers.

All of these music festivals have options for camping, nearby motels and other accommodations. Typically concert organizer go to great lengths to make sure these events have all the necessary facilities and supplies easily readable so the concert-goers can focus on the most important things, music and fun!
